roll tide roll!

My lack of blogging goes to show how busy the CDCs have been down here at Bama!  We arrived on August 12th and ever since have been working hard to create a well-established chapter on the University of Alabama campus.  A lot of us from "the north" (as we keep joking) had some things to get used to!  Did you know that the style for all the women down here is oversized tee shirts?  Walking around campus you see almost every single women in a tee shirt to their knees over Nike running shorts.  So, the CDCs decided we wanted to try out the style!  We went to downtown Tuscaloosa and purchased our first large frocket (front pocket) tee from the famous Shirt Shop and have tried to rock the southern style.

Not sure if I'm going to continue this style once I leave the south but it's comfy while we're here!  Other great things about the south include sweet tea and preppy southern boys.  Both are things I could get very used to :)

After getting over some culture shock, the CDCs have embraced the great traditions that this campus brings.  The people here LOVE their football and being able to recruit out of a skybox in the staduim has been a huge plus for DG.  We participated in the first rounds of formal recruitment (called ice water teas here).  Here are some pictures of what our room looked like!

We've been in the stadium ever since and have meet over a thousand potential new members who have shown great interest in Delta Gamma.  It makes me SO proud to be a part of this organization to be able to speak to these women about the leadership, scholarship, service and sisterhood opportunities DG offers.  More posts to come about all things Bama!
